How the Global Elite 50 Dance Schools is scored
The Global Elite 50 Dance Schools identifies the world's strongest secondary-age and pre-professional dance-training institutions through one overriding question: how effectively does a school convert exceptional young dancers into working professional dancers? The ranking examines evidence from 2016-2026. Professional conversion carries half of the total score. Training quality, faculty, health and wellbeing, professional-company integration, performance opportunities and specialist facilities make up the remaining half.
The 100-point weighting
The weighting is intentionally aggressive. Fifty of the hundred points are directly tied to professional conversion. A beautiful campus cannot make a school elite. Neither can historic alumni.

The Professional Destination Matrix
The weight applied to each graduate's outcome. An 18-year-old joining The Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet or NYCB has already converted into the profession. An 18-year-old entering an elite junior company is extremely close and scores accordingly. A graduate entering another school has achieved a strong educational destination, but has not yet converted into professional employment.

Evidence-confidence grades
The confidence grade is separate from the school's score. Poor disclosure is not treated as poor performance — instead, lower transparency reduces the confidence attached to the ranking position. That is why Vaganova can rank #5 with B+ evidence confidence, while a more transparent institution further down the ranking can receive A−.
